Additive techniques in medicine – small steps towards 3D printed tissues and organs
Dorota Bociąga – works as a professor at the Technical University of Lodz. She is a founder and supervisor of the Laboratory of 3D Bioprinting and Biomaterials Research. She is scientifically engaged in materials and biomedical engineering, focusing on additive methods (bioprinting and 3D printing and thin functional coatings) in medical applications (mainly orthopaedics and urology). She is the author of scientific papers and co-authors of patents and implementations in this field. In her research and teaching work, she makes use of the experience gained in foreign units, such as the 3D Bioprinting Lab at Penn State University (USA, 2020), Aarhus University (Denmark, 2019), Hasso Plattner Institute, Potsdam (Germany, 2018), Nanometrics Incorporated, CA (USA, 2012), Joint Research Centre, Ispra (Italy, 2005, 2006), Eastman Dental Institute, London (England, 2004), L’Ecole Catholique d’Arts et Métiers, Lyon (France, 2003).
She has been managing R&D projects and implementing their results since 2003 (EU FP5), working in national and international teams and consortia. In their implementation, she relies, among others, on the knowledge and practice gained at Stanford University (USA, 2012) and the Polish-American postgraduate Master of Science in Science and Technology Commercialization (UŁ and the University of Texas at Austin, 2010).
Scholarship holder of the FNP Mentoring Program, winner of the programs Top 500 Innovators Science Management – Commercialization (Ministry of Science and Technology), Bekker (NAWA) and Masters of Didactics (Ministry of Science and Technology). Member of the Polish Biomaterials Association since 2003 and Deputy President since 2017.
