The 3rd edition of Additive Manufacturing Meeting (AMM) – the International Conference of AM Users’ was held September 18-19 in Wroclaw, Poland. Two days of AMM2019 Conference was filled with 26 talks, young scientists’ poster session with 24 posters, 2 workshops and technical exhibition that gathered 155 participants from research and industrial institutions (57% industrial share) from over the world: Poland, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Singapore. Such diversity of participants lead to fruitful conversations and exchange of AM experience between research, industry and AM companies.
First day of conference was fully packed with different talks. At the end of the day every participant was invited to conference dinner in the unique restaurant which is located in the Wroclaw Zoo. Before networking session there was an amazing opportunity to exclusively visit Wroclaw Africarium, which is Poland’s first oceanarium and the only one in the world devoted to the flora and fauna of just one continent.
Second day of the conference started with partners workshops handled by 3YOURMIND and SLM Solutions. Within 3YOURMIND workshop “The AM Part Identification workshop” participants had unique opportunity to work with AM Part Identification tool, capable of screening databases of parts and indicating promising AM use cases. During SLM Solution workshop “Data preparation for metal 3D printing with Additive Designer®, a SLM Solutions software”, participants had an opportunity to listen about new Additive Designer software, that guides the user step by step until the machine file is created.
Young Scientists Poster Session as well as lab tour were busy, crowdy and drew a lot attention from participants, letting guests better to know each other. The last two sessions were focused on applications and different business models.
During the closing remarks, the Best Poster Award was presented to Agnieszka Chmielewska from Warsaw University of Technology for the work “Chemical and Electrochemical Polishing of 3D Printed Metal Parts”.
