he inaugural Additive Manufacturing Meeting (AMM 2017) came to a successful close with 140 participants on June, 30. The 2017 edition consisted of a seminar on an industrial application of additive manufacturing (AM) and a technical exhibition. During the seminar, speakers presented the overview of potential applications as well as current trends in research and implementation of additive manufacturing in aerospace, medicine, automotive and consumer industries.
The presentations about industrial AM technologies were covering few different cases. Ralf Frohwerk (SLM Solutions) showed brilliant examples of manufacturing customized metal parts for automotive industry. Piotr Mikulski (Bibus Menos) presented the key challenges and issues of the implementation of metal powder bed technology to serial manufacturing. Pawel Gozdziewski (APX Technology) introduced participants with hybrid metal technology solution realized by Maatsura. Maciej Patrzalek (Solveere) talked about creating professional production systems using SLS machines. Krystian Pawelczyk (3YOURMIND) presented the case studies of an implementation platform for industrial 3D printing in enterprises as well as using its instruments for an SME’s e-commerce solutions.
Radoslaw Wojtuszewski and Aleksander Banas (PZL Mielec) presented the results of the project developed in the framework of aviation sector operational program – INNOLOT. The consortium of partners – PZL Mielec, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and few other polish universities are developing the production launch of selected parts for aviation using different additive manufacturing technologies, i.e., EBM, SLM, SLS, and LC.
At the session dedicated to the use of additive manufacturing in medicine, Dr. Marcin Elgalal (Bionanopark, Lodz) presented the case study manufacturing customized implants of the skull. Professors Karol Kozak and Tomasz Gedrange (Fraunhofer IWS, Uniklinikum Dresden) informed participants about interdisciplinary (on the connection between medicine, additive manufacturing, and engineering) research projects caring on in the Fraunhofer IWS, through of them – the transfer of biomedical data for manufacturing customized dental and jaw implants.
Speakers from Technology Applied, 3D Center, 3dl.tech and 3D Printers presented case studies about mass customization of personalized shoe inserts, implementation of FDM technologies in the industry as well as for manufacturing production tools.
Meantime, participants of AMM 2017 had an opportunity to participate in workshop “Preparing CAD/CAM model for 3SP/DLP technology” provided by our strategic partner – Solveere as well as in discussion panel “Implementation innovation technologies in the industry” provided by another strategic partner – project Interreg NUCLEI
In addition to the seminar and exhibition, participants had excellent opportunity to networking during the Odra river cruise through beautiful Wroclaw.
